Illinois became the 21st state of the Union on December 3rd, 1818. Before being settled by Europeans, Illinois was home to a vibrant Native American culture, still visible in places like Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. Our series of US geography videos "Visit the 50 States," gives you a little history and interesting facts about each state. For every state, you'll learn when it entered the Union, what's its motto, how did it get its nickname, and see what the flag, seal, and state capitol building all look like. We'll find the state capital on the map! There's also fun trivia - do you know the state tree, flower, and bird? Rid Exe: Oh My God! a perfect example of a bankrupt state and one of the worst state in the US. Moved to Illinois in 2014 but in less than 12 months we left that God awful state and moved back to good old California. Illinois is so depressingly bleak, and boring. The winters are brutal, the roads are always destroyed and taxes are out of control. The salary are slave wages and is totally disproportionate to the outrageously high taxes that the corrupt fat asses politicians take from your hard earned money. Illinois should best served the rest of the country as a dumping ground for toxic waste and garbages from all across the US. I’m so glad I moved away from that Hell hole and regained my sanity.
Bridgot Loesch: Let's go Illinois!!! YEAH!!!
Fethry Duck: The best state ;)
Adolfo Cortez: I love my state.
Adrian Gomez: reply if you're hometown is Rockford,IL
Shapdow: Illinois is the guess guess "21st" state "21"
IronMan93: I'm Brazilian, but my second country always has been the U.S, and Illinois is one of my favorite American states. I'd like to think that I live in the Chicago suburbs (just like Home Alone, Vacation (83) or Ferris Bueller's Day Off) while I go to the Loop work. A little thought of mine.
Lyle Estacio: My fave state. Hope to pass ng NCLEX soon so I can practice my profession there. 😊
